KNDS Radio, also known as Thunder Radio, operates at 96.3 FM as a Low Power FM (LPFM) station licensed to North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo, North Dakota. This student-run station provides NDSU students with hands-on experience in broadcasting, journalism, communication, and media production. KNDS features a variety format, a departure from the standard genre-specific programming common on commercial stations, reflecting the diverse tastes of the NDSU student body and the Fargo-Moorhead community. KNDS, Thunder Radio, offers a diverse range of programming that includes alternative rock, indie pop, hip hop/rap, and electronic music. A significant emphasis is placed on supporting local bands and musicians from the Fargo-Moorhead area and the broader region through dedicated shows and airtime. Specialty shows cover genres like metal, punk, jazz, and blues, and even spoken word or public affairs programming. The station actively engages with the community and partners with campus groups and organizations for events and promotions. Students gain practical experience in on-air broadcasting, audio production for commercials and promos, programming by selecting music and scheduling shows, station management, and marketing and promotion to the campus and community. KNDS is organized as a student organization at NDSU, governed by student leaders and advised by faculty.
