LF Radio 🇺🇸

Low Frequency (LF) radio utilizes the frequency band from 30 kHz to 300 kHz, characterized by long wavelengths between 1 and 10 kilometers. LF radio waves primarily propagate via groundwave, enabling signals to travel hundreds to thousands of kilometers. Skywave propagation is also possible but less reliable. LF radio's limited bandwidth makes it unsuitable for music broadcasting. Instead, it serves specialized functions such as navigation using LORAN-C and Non-Directional Beacons (NDBs), time signal transmission from stations like MSF (UK), DCF77 (Germany), and JJY (Japan), and communication with submarines. It also supports Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) and telemetry applications.
