Radio Svoboda 🇺🇸

Founded in 1953, Radio Svoboda (Радио Свобода) is the Russian-language service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). Its mission is to provide accurate news and information to audiences in countries with restricted press freedom, promoting democratic values and independent journalism. Funded by the U.S. Congress through USAGM, RFE/RL ensures editorial independence. Following the Soviet Union's collapse, Radio Svoboda focused on democratic reforms. In 2017, Russia designated it a "foreign agent," leading to restrictions and the suspension of operations in Russia in 2022. Despite challenges, Radio Svoboda offers news, analysis, investigative reports, and cultural programming via websites, social media, and mobile apps. It focuses on issues underreported by state-controlled media, providing in-depth analysis and diverse perspectives. Investigative journalism covers corruption and human rights abuses, while cultural programming explores Russian literature, art, and music.
