WAMU 🇺🇸

WAMU, located in Washington, D.C., began broadcasting in 1961 as a service of American University. Operating at 88.5 FM, WAMU has grown into a major public radio station for the Washington metropolitan area. Its programming includes NPR flagship programs, such as 'Morning Edition,' 'All Things Considered,' 'Fresh Air,' and 'Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!'. WAMU also broadcasts locally produced content, including 'The Kojo Nnamdi Show' and content from DCist, acquired in 2018. WAMU's funding comes primarily from listener donations, along with corporate sponsorships, grants, and support from American University. As a non-commercial station, WAMU focuses on providing news, information, and cultural programming.
