WVUM, known as 'The Voice' - 90.5 FM, is the University of Miami's non-commercial, educational radio station, entirely operated by students. This provides hands-on experience in broadcasting, media production, and the music industry. Funded by the University of Miami, student government allocations, and fundraising, WVUM maintains independent programming focusing on alternative, indie rock, electronic, hip-hop, world music, jazz, and local Miami artists. WVUM offers diverse music shows curated by student DJs, alongside specialty shows dedicated to local Miami music, Latin music, and reggae. WVUM also airs news and public affairs programming, often produced by students, and provides coverage of University of Miami sports, including live game broadcasts.
